About 18 months ago my computer got a virus (kwbot.e worm i think) and it erased my hard drive so I took to get fixed. He restored most of the files and installed pc-cillin 2000 anti virus but now the CPU usage is always on 100%. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
When no programs are running there's about 40 processes running, Memory usage is 118844k of 550008k.
I have a 1.3 Ghz AMD athlon 1400 (i think) processor running on a Hi-Grade Winputer.
Can anyone help, it's getting really annoying now because I can only run one program at a time properly and playing even games like GTA3 is impossisible.

If you run anything like SETI then that would give you 100% CPU usage, however they are coded to stop using any of the CPU as soon as you want to do anything else, in other words, they have lowest priority. So they shouldn't interfere.
Far more likely you have a virus, or spyware. Sure you might have an anti-virus scanner, but it will be out of date. New viruses are found all the time so you have to update them so that they can find the new viruses.
I recommend downloading the free version of AVG: [URL]http://www.grisoft.com[/URL].
Also Ad Aware, another free program to get rid of spyware: [URL]http://www.lavasoft.de[/URL].
With both of those programs downloaded, make sure you click to get the latest updates, then run them. They should find the cause of your problems.
