And i can't stand using this one. All the wires are joined up, i tried reinstalling the router, but nothing. The router works because it's how this and my Xbox get to the internet. It must be something on the PC... I recently tried setting up a little joinup between it and my mums laptop, which failed, then it wouldn't connect to the internet again. Save me.

Yes. Mines just a bog standard router with holes to put your ethernet cables in... And a reset button. Never saw that before. It's worth a try.

So the Xbox is still connecting then?

The only thing I can think of, which has worked for me, is to dial into the router. What brand is it? Different brands may work differently. I have a Netgear DG834G. I just open my browser and type in '192.168.0.1', enter my username and password and test/reboot the connection from there.

If you don't have a Netgear router and the above doesn't work for you, I'm afraid I won't be able to help any more.

p.s. My router is a modem/router/switch combo - which could make things different from the setup of a normal router.
