There is a program on channel 4 at the moment talking about the subject.

Well, while we are all actually voyeurs, i.e. you see a nice looking female/male (by that I don’t mean a hermaphrodite), walking down the street in some tight jeans; you do turn and have another look.

But this program is showing the “hardcore” voyeurs. Now, I don’t mind people who are like-minded meeting up and watching each other, or taking pictures pretending that they don’t know, you know, fake voyeur, but this is showing how technology has impacted and now every 1 in 1000 women in the UK has probably been snapped in the nude.

Now, that may not sound like a large sum, but they are being snapped in places that are supposed to be private, dressing rooms and such. Also, just think, that 1 in 1000 could be your sister or mother or something.

What are your views on the whole thing?
Also, this is a family forum, but I think if handled maturely this subject can be discussed on here.

I think you underestimate the average person a bit.

Sure, some people are pretty dumb, and buy into everything they read, a lot of people don't do any research beyond biased and overblown media stories designed to sell. And as such, they accept some things.

But for the most part, I believe most people see the crap and the lies for what they are, but everyone's too apathetic or too powerless in modern society to do anything.

Then again, opinion polls regarding the EU constitution referendum show people see it as a chance to move away from the EU, or give a vote of confidence on our place in Europe. The constitution itself does neither, it's just procedural stuff to cope with the new states, and for the Europhobics, it'll probably introduce a procedure to withdraw from the EU, so they should be voting in its favour!

So on a large scale, people are being ignorant to real issues and accepting headlines, political spin and media hype at face value.

Maybe you're right :^(

Well I'm currently reading Stupid White Men by Michael Moore.

Think I'm on the right track? I never fully trust anything from an authoritarian source anyway.

I think generally they have the right idea, but they just make things bigger than they are or take things to far, they are souless and that is why they can go overboard because is it just words to them, but the public cant see that, they dont question whether something actually is a scandal, they just accept what they are being told and follow like lemmings off a cliff,(incidentally another myth portrayed by the media)thing's always have to be made as big as possible, and soon enough they will reach terminal velocity and people might see them for what they are.
When everything is so blown up that it cant get bigger, that is when average joe might wake up and see what an idiot he's been.

it sounds silly, but this is what happens to a society that has no real fight, no real enemy, no real defined villain to oppose - it decides to attack itself. people are so busy picking our government, society and culture apart these days, that we've forgotten about all the important things in life.

you have to watch films or read books sometimes just to remind yourself of the kind, selfless and generous side of humanity - because if you just read the papers or watched telly, you'd end up topping yourself.

Well they may be trying but they are failing, unfortunatly the general public arent intelligent enough to make up their own minds so they have to read crap like the sun and watch trisha to learn about morality and how to behave.
