My pc has been infected but I managed to get rid of it by downloading a fixer on the synmatic website however the virus keeps comming back. Its annoying though because it keeps shutting down your pc. Has anyone else experienced the Sassar virus. If so how do you get rid of it permantly?

The computers in school have been infected. Nice, nearly the end of all our work and the computers start being gay.

1) Use removal tool again or remove virus manually

2) Download latest windows Security patch (appropriate for your version of windows) and install it on you computer www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx

3) Get decent AV software and run a through scan to make sure the virus has gone and make sure you keep it updated every 2/3 weeks. Run scans every week.

I'm impressed that it was impossible for me to get the virus (well I could get it, but it could'nt do anything to my system) as soon as it existed, as I downloaded the update that stops it (or the security hole that let's it in to your system in this case) almost a month ago.

This virus is quite something! Essex County Council pulled the plug on all the broadband connections for schools in Essex that it deals with because they got infected! Useless!

What's the Script - have you disabled System Restore? If that is enabled, the virus has an easy route at coming back.

I too have not been hit by this virus - and my net connection is running 24/7! I haven't even patched my system yet (unless it patched in an auto-update).
