In the official UK Playstation site they said that the reason why GT4 doesn't work is because the lens needs to be cleaned, and they mentioned something about a DVD cleaning kit, so is this the best way to clean the PS2 lens ? And if so, where can I find one ? And if not, then what is the best way to clean it ?

I extremely take good care of it. After using it each time, I wrap it in several plastic covers before puting it in the drawer. I never use compact discs which exhaust the lens and I only have 6 DVD's. The only thing I do with it is gaming, and I still had to take it to Sony to clean the lens 3 times until now. Somehow, every year at the beggining of summer, something happens. I don't know what is it, it just happened 3 times until now. Lately I have been putting it in it's box after wrapping it, and I'm afraid that this will happen again...

I'd be interested to know who they were that mentioned the DVD cleaning kit, mainly because most of the older version PS2 manuals expressly state that using them is a bad idea (they scratch the PS2's lens as well as cleaning it). The newer version manuals don't mention DVD cleaning kits at all.

Best way:

Unscrew case.
Remove case top.
Unscrew drive cover.
Remove drive cover.
Get white spirite / methanol.
Dab cotton bud in previously mentioned alcohol.
Whipe, using circular motions.
Throw bud away.
Replace drive cover.
Screw in drive cover.
Replace case top.
Screw in case top.

Simple.
