Their "music" is pap in my opinion.
But I have respect for the lead "singer" who pretty much admits that.

He doesn't pretend there is some hidden message in his "art", he just says he tells stories about things that happen to him in life.

Well done to him. Made himself a lot of cash from pretty crap stuff.

Just listen to the new song again.

After you listen to it a couple of times it starts to grow on you, that fact that it's so rubbish makes it so good.

I can see why people hate it, but thats the way he makes the songs and he's pulled it off.

And 'The Irony of it All' is great, just listen to it, download it now if you haven't, it's a clever song.

I like the Streets for being sort of unique, but... :-)

I mean, rapping isn't normally bad but these guys don't have rhythm.
The "speaking" and music playing chugs like a train, with a chug chug chug chug chug chug chug choooo chooooooooo!

:-)

Kudos for being different, but that it all. :-)

I like The Streets but I think his new tune is a bit rubbish.

The best talking instead of singing band are Arab Strap: "I had a quick tug so that it would last longer, then I went to meet you for lunch, but we had something stronger."

Some of the best music around has no lyrics at all. Usually if a group does an instrumental track it's as good as their best track with lyrics.

If they salmmed some interesting effects over it or something along those lines, I'd probably find it ok to listen. However as it is I just find it dull.

Blur did Spoken Word stuff better.

The streets are actually pretty good, in my opinion. Unlike most rap music, it isn't all about firearms, drugs, pointless rubbish about street violence and other complete nonsense. It's sort of London stuff without the stupid, out of place recorded sound all the time.

But, still, long live rock.

Me too...

'Fit But You Know It' is a great song. 'Weak Become Heroes' is also a killer song.
