But I have respect for the lead "singer" who pretty much admits that.
He doesn't pretend there is some hidden message in his "art", he just says he tells stories about things that happen to him in life.
Well done to him. Made himself a lot of cash from pretty crap stuff.
After you listen to it a couple of times it starts to grow on you, that fact that it's so rubbish makes it so good.
I can see why people hate it, but thats the way he makes the songs and he's pulled it off.
And 'The Irony of it All' is great, just listen to it, download it now if you haven't, it's a clever song.

Blur did most things better than most people.
I mean, rapping isn't normally bad but these guys don't have rhythm.
The "speaking" and music playing chugs like a train, with a chug chug chug chug chug chug chug choooo chooooooooo!
:-)
Kudos for being different, but that it all. :-)
The best talking instead of singing band are Arab Strap: "I had a quick tug so that it would last longer, then I went to meet you for lunch, but we had something stronger."

Some of the best music around has no lyrics at all. Usually if a group does an instrumental track it's as good as their best track with lyrics.
If they salmmed some interesting effects over it or something along those lines, I'd probably find it ok to listen. However as it is I just find it dull.
Blur did Spoken Word stuff better.
But, still, long live rock.

Me too...
'Fit But You Know It' is a great song. 'Weak Become Heroes' is also a killer song.

Given the example of The Streets, yes, yes you should stay away from it, very bloody far away please :-D
