Their "music" is pap in my opinion.
But I have respect for the lead "singer" who pretty much admits that.

He doesn't pretend there is some hidden message in his "art", he just says he tells stories about things that happen to him in life.

Well done to him. Made himself a lot of cash from pretty crap stuff.

He's selling out by doing festival spots? Um, I don't think so. And being sponsporeed by The Sun doesn't mean a thing, no doubt they're paying for his beer money. He was sponsored by Sony soon after his first album came out anyway.

I like The Streets, it's no nonsense fun music, Skinner makes no bones about the fact he's blagging it. Saw them last year at Glastonbury and had a bloody good time. (Edit: I hate garage, for the record)

I remember a time when the term genius was used very rarely and used to describe people actually worthy of that label. People like Hawkins, Einstein etc etc

I fear the new album will ruin them, they're going to go off make a shiat-load of money and sell out. With The sun backing them with 'Fit but You know it' and spots for them in more summer festivals than you can shake a stick out, I fear that their whole original style will be affected. All we can do is hope.

Not to my taste, but unique nonetheless.
