No they don't.
Gamoboy colour and original do work, there is a slot on the front specially made for gameboy advance colour and original, the one on the back is for DS
GBA games look fantastic as well, what with the proper backlighting.

For anyone confused, Color and original games don't work (as gerrid said). They don't even fit into the DS.

yes it does at the bottom of the system
One would like to add that it does play colour and original games, if anyone would like to prove one wrong, so be it, but one can tell one that one will not be proven wrong.
yes the DS plays GBA games, but not original Gameboy or Gameboy Color games.
