Anyone remember the story I did ages ago about a samurai koala?

Oh.

Well, er, anyway, I'm doing some practise animations and trying to learn to draw a bit better, so I thought I'd put some links to pics in here.

You're on. Then you'll have to face it off with Kickboxing Kangaroo and Tae-Bo Tortoise.

Here are a couple of drawings I posted over in General chat in a seemingly unpopular thread:

Did you do Art GCSE? I decided against it and everyone now questions me about it, saying I should have. I'm good at drawing little doodle-like pictures like those, but big projects and painting especially I hate. So I think I probably made the right choice.

Nope, didn't take it, but I used to turn up to the lessons (For some reason all the teachers liked me, I could just walk into lessons and sit down), and I did the same for A-Level too.

But I'm glad I didn't take it, the way it was set up just wasn't helpful to me. Writing essays about the history of art does not help me to see perspective in a koala's head.

What I did instead (I only went once, unfortunately the lessons around here are a little thin) is go to a life drawing class and this I HIGHLY recommend. It's all about forcing you to look at things in a different way, and once it gets going in your head things become so much easier to draw. Your drawings are excellent as it is, but it's worth a try if you ever get the chance.

So don't worry about people hassling you about the art GCSE. But hell, you've got to do what you want to, what you enjoy to do.

Crazy!? Your old school seems really relaxed, I couldn't do this.

Heh, I understand. By the way, I agree with most on here, the first koala picture you drew was sweet, the second good, and so on, but the later ones need more detail as well as to be polished up.

Sounds cool, I would consider this. Is it an out of school thing that you have to pay for? To be honest I am only good at drawing when relaxed and when i'm drawing something interesting. I could show you heaps of stuff from my first couple of years at secondary school that looks like a five year old did it. Painting is a nightmare also, i'm a sketcher.

I don't worry about it, but when I get a spare moment where nothing is going on and I start sketching on an odd piece of paper people are like "Woah thats pretty good, why didn'y you choose Art?". It mainly doesn't bother me as I do PE instead which I enjoy a lot.

Sounds good. :) Thanks for the comments, those latter ones are bothering me, I've tried to redo them but really can't get the right look. Detail I'm not bothered with, after all, they're just animation cells, but the perspective is irritating.

Were those classes you went to an out of school thing then?

Yup, they were. I'd expect though if you ask teachers at school they'll be able to help you find a class outside school you can go to if there's one available.
