Has anyone failed to notice its ruining our media industry
Fistly the artists and directors don't make as much money
Secondly retail shops loose out on customers
Do you think the Government should do more about it and what about the fact they have allowed some downloads to charge downloads at very low prices. The money then probably then doesn't go to the right cause.
If the number of people who download things like new movies and games then shops like SR will be affected.
I personally don't think its right as everyone should pay for there products not half of the population download and half purchase.

Don't know how the movie or game industry is affected, but I believe it's harder to download movies and games than it is to download music, so I doubt we're going to see the closure of film studios and game retailers anytime soon.
Why pay £14.99 for a new CD in the shops when you can either buy it legitimately for around a fiver less, have it extremely cheap on that site (of which I can't remember the name) which has a £30 a year membership to legally download whatever you like, or even free if you can find somewhere like Kazaa and are willing to take the risk of getting caught.
CDs used to be much cheaper.
Remember when Metallica encouraged people to tape from each other to get the band known? well they sure changed their tune when they had millions to protect didn't they?
Courtney Love wrote a great article on how new bands get screwed by labels which anyone into semi-pro music should check out.
ditch record companies and all bands should go independant, or at least compensate the downloader. say an album costs £15, offer the whole album for download for £5. the cost is usually justified by citing production values and packaging as a major factor, by downloading you've removed that problem from the equation as the packaging and media is provided by yourself.
personally i don't download movies (can't be bothered to wait and nothing i care enough about has been released anyways) but i do have a fair few mp3's and where possible, i've paid for and downloaded 1 track only, in other cases i've tried before i've bought and in other rarer cases i've downloaded a song and not paid anyone anything, but only because it's a deleted track that i otherwise couldn't get and i'm damned if i'll pay £15 for an album when i only want 1 song.
so yes, steps should be taken, but not in the way most people think....

CD's are still ridiculous prices as far as I'm concerned.
I don't download anything else, except free porn.
