You would have to lead your games/consoles to success, by making all the decisions real life owners have to make!
Let's say you are the owner of a game producing company. You have to decided what type of games will be made next, and you will also have to choose which games will be released or not. If you like the game, then you will allow it to be released. If not, then you can cancel it.
But, any of these decisions could lead to major money loss, and it would be extremely important to make the right decision. Because if you don't, your company will begin to fail.
You would also decide which people work for your company, by reviewing their status and former work. It would be rather like a sports managerial game, but with a games company instead.
Each week you could be given a chart on how well your company are doing, and you would then make changes according to what the graph says.
You would also have to deal with the public, as they may not like the games you have developed, and you will have to improve your reputation with them.
Another task would be sorting out deals with companies such as Sony and Nintendo, to decide which formats your games will be produced for. You may want to plegde all your efforts into one company, or you may want to spread your services around.
Every decision you make could change the future of your company, so you will have to think very carefully when choosing what options to take.
It would also be the same if you were the owner of a console producing company.
You would have to foresee the new console in development for your company, and also check how your current console is selling.
You would also have to choose whether you want to use lots of 3rd party developers, or perhaps you'd prefer to make your own games.
If your console is performing badly, then you will begin to lose money, and even the trust of your customers and game developers.
I think this would be an excellent game, as it would be challenging, rewarding, fun and it would also show you what the owners of companies such as Sega and Square have to go through every day.
Thanks for reading, Ant.
> In response to title only - I would manage better than Sega.
{:) LOL!
....maybe in about 10 years time when AI is much much better, but I don't think it would be possible to make a game like that at present...
I can see it now... *dreams* Yeah, being your own company would be excellent. It would come under a strategy game, wouldn't it? You could be given a sum of £1,000,000 in which you will have to attract both game develpers and customers.
It would be great fun, desining your own cosnole! Maybe you could even set up your own internet site to publish your company on the web!
Great idea, ant!
