Due to being a skint loser, I've not had a proper holiday abroad for years. Sad I know - I've even missed out on 3 (count em) breaks in Dam.

Me and a large group of mates have resorted to camping a lot in the lake district, which during the summer is a lot more fun than it sounds. Large fire, geetarz, good company, mary jane and her friend lady liquor, and a lot of strangers that seem to wander over from all sides of the campsite. It's like a mini woodstock, 4am drunken renditions of 'Tightrope', endless bacon sarnies and a raging headache the next morning.

But I want a proper holiday this year seeing as some poor schmoes saw fit to employ me, and I have a few quid to throw away on a couple of weeks debauchery.

Hot weather is preferred but not essential. I'm looking for something a bit different from the cliche package deal to spain/ibiza/tenerife/whatever, but not too expensive, if you know what I mean.

Recommend for me a destination, good sirs (or sir-ettes).

Cheers

I have been to America twice, Florida and Calfornia. I have been to The Canary Islands twice, and have set foot on all four major islands. I've also been to Portugal.

I can't really reccommend you much, but with the cheap flights that many companies offer these days I cannot imagine you having a huge amount of trouble finding a decent break. Good Luck.

Ah well I'm off to bed.

I'll check for your reply tomorrow, and then post some possibilities, which I or friends can recommend.

Night.

Amsterdam was fun. Rome is great. There's quite a bit of sight seeing to do but its fantastic.

Are you looking to go with mates for fun, or to see sights or...?

nah rubbish, it's good to know where to visit.

In my lifetime I've been to the south of france and mallorca. that's it.

I'd like to go to australia, but you need to take a month off really to see that properly, and a massive wad of cash.

Iceland is a fantastic place to go, but a "tad" on the expensive side, so that may not be a good recommendation (I don't really know how much you're going to splash out) ((and i won't ask either))

My Great Aunt has a B & B up in the Kyle of Localsh, which is great. But it doesn't sound your scene.

Have you thought about any of the Scandanavian countries? - Haven't been to Norway,Sweden or Denmark, but they sound different to your dreaded Ibiza packages.

Corfu is very nice, although perhaps too like Spain, Ibiza etc..

I'll think of more later. And next time, I will actually recommend some destinations, rather than telling you of places where you wont be looking to go....(as I have seemed to have done above...)

Sorry sir
