This is now up on the WWE website:

"After months of negotiations, the WWE and Steve Austin have been unable to come to terms on a new contract and as a result have mutually agreed to part company.

Both parties have left the door open to work together again in the future and the WWE wishes Steve the very best in his future endeavors."

Bye bye Austin...RAW has lost a big superstar. So that's Lesnar, Goldberg, Rock, Austin...who's next?

*sheesh* so many actual rivalries, I don't see the problem in losing to someone...

Goes back to their WCW days. Not sure exactly what happened, probably Sting wouldn't put Austin over?

True...but Austin was the last member of the roster with a genuine dislike for Sting with the political power to keep him away...

Sting to WWE rumour number 3497 eh? I've lost count how many times he's been linked to WWE now

I have heard that rumour so many times at this stage, it is a case of me believing it when I see it.
Sting would inject some interest in the WWE, though.

Bah. Hopefully Austin will appear on some other wrestling show in the future, if he can't come to any agreements with the WWE...

Biggest loss yet in my view. He was definately more entertaining than a lot of the other big names the WWE has lost lately.

I'm GLAD he's gone. He didn't wrestle anymore, yet he was always stunning people.
His character became boring and cliched.
