Seeing as you are in this thread, I demand you to make on of the best downloads I have seen ever, it's superb for anyone who finds reading standard tabluature monotonous.
It's called "PowerTab" and basically, you download special .ptb tabs of the website, and then play them in the software, the tab features the usual stuff like a musical stave, with a guitar tab underneath it. It's superb in my opinion because it gives you an idea of the timing, with a midi type sound.

I like Guitar Pro better because it has drums too, which is nice. It isn't free though, but I've been using the demo for about 4 months... It says it expires after 30 days, but when the 30 days is up you can still click 'Let me try' when the evaluation version warning comes up and it works fine.

There's another similar program called Guitar Pro, which is pretty good too. Erm, I think you're meant to pay, but that's not a necessity thanks to the mule.
