I was thinking and am not sure who gets the Champions League and UEFA Cup spots for next season.

I know that the top 2 from the Premiership get automatic Champions League and 3rd and 4th go into the Qualifyers.

What happens if Chelsea win Champions League?

Would it go to the 5th placed team aswell?

Also only 5th in the Premiership gets a place gets UEFA Cup. But what happens if Newcastle win it and finish 5th or 6th?

We've already got Millwall (FA Cup) and Middlesbrough (Carling Cup).

We also have 1 from the fair play league and another from the Fair play league who's drawn out.

We also have the winners from the Inter-toto Cup.

Anyone know what will happen then?

I'm talking about automatic. We had none. And yes, I'm Scottish.

I don'think that's likely though, they will finish either 2nd or 3rd, hopefully the latter :-)

Unless of course if Chelsea were to win it but finish outside of the top four.

Yeah I agree. Last year England had 4 teams going into the Champions league and we had two. It's not fair. You are Scottish aswell, aren't you A J?

If Chelsea win the Champions League, then they'll automatically be in next season, no matter what position they finish in the Premiership. But a country can have no more than 4 teams in the Champions League, so no, 5th place would not be for the Champions League.

If Newcastle win the UEFA Cup, they'll get an automatic UEFA Cup placement, but if they finish in the top 4, they'll be given the chance to qualify for the Champions League. And if they qualify for the Champions League, their automatic UEFA Cup spot will go to the team in 6th.

On another note, it's good to see Celtic will have an automatic place in the Champions League next season... first time the Scottish League has had this. Before, even the champions have had to qualify. So that's always a good thing.
