A few months back I found myself on the safe mode screen, so i generally tapped start computer as normal ... it booted up, booted down, and the safe mode screen appeared. Again. After trying every option, i assumed the worst, a virus. I managed to get into the drive using it as a Slave - all my files had been deleted.

After days of P*ssing about i managed to recover the deleted files because files are never deleted, they are "moved"

Anyway, a few days back the safemode screen horror happened again. Now, i had learned my lesson last time - my pre-experience had prompted me to purchase Norton Antivirus, and Firewall - so i thought i was safe. I had also backed up my files because i learnt my lesson there too.

It can't be a coincidence that this has happened twice now, and i don't think lightening strikes twice-
or at least not in the same place. I didn't bother checking the harddrive this time, i just formatted it. But i wonder if it might be a computer fault, because its happened twice in a row now....

Anybody had this trouble, or does anybody know how to stop it!?

Cheers,

I expect they've probably done that. If not, they need a slap.

If lightning struck your computer, you'd know about it.

Just format the drive, gets rid of all the crap and leaves you with a fresh, fragment-free system. Obviously you'll lose all your porn if you don't back it up...
