The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Right ladies and gentlemen here's the forum where your ideas and suggestions can be stated about how to actually make the forum better. No "oh ban ---" or drastic systems that involve help from the staffies but what we can actually do to make the forum better...
I'll with my idea of stop the stupid "your a retard" crap and just ignore ignore whoever you don't agree with or whoever is psamming the place up. With no reaction comes boredom for the person in question and therefore they'll leave.
Once again any other ideas that actual forum users themselvs can implement are welcomed here...

That will make having a discussion kind of hard, as the whole concept of a discussion is based on two conflicting opinions. Otherwise it's just an agreement.

first of all, how the hell do's this forum help to inprove all forums(i mean you don't have any power to change anything on these forums)
second of all, i think that these forums would be better if it was live. saying that it won't be a forum then but hay, it would still be better if you could talk to people live like on msn messager.lol

Two Words?! There was no comment on the story or anything. Just a link. That could have taken place in General Chat, let alone FOG Chat!

If Special Reserve had a live chat room (a la MSN Messenger but a big one) then it'd mean that all the stupid pointless discussions that are so prominent wouldn't be here.
People would go to the LIVE CHAT ROOM and chat in real-time. And people who wanted to discuss things at length properly could do so on here. When I first came on these forums many posts ago people posted proper topics. 'The Future of Gaming', 'Console Wars', 'What Nintendo Did Wrong', and so on.
Nowadays people just write rubbish about meeting on LIVE and verbally abuse each other. I remember when we used to read through a 5,000+ character Dan2k3 post - or spend hours listening to er-no's stories or Grix's mental rantings. Those were the good times.
If we had a live browser-based chat then people could use that for the 'General Chat' etc. There should be a Forum comb, too. So that any idle threads can be deleted to clean the place up. If no-one minds SR getting rid of certain threads, then why not let SR do it and make the place more navigable!?
The main thing is, 90% of the regular posters are probably under 16, so adult discussions outside of the Notable-only places are a rarity. You get bad grammar, deplorable spelling and generally incomprehensible posts more than not. I'm not knocking anyone, but there's a few simple measures SR could take to tidy the place up.
Make a LIVE Browser-Based Chat Room - this would reduce the number of pointless crap posts by a considerable amount.
Delete old topics that haven't been active for a while - Just put a little red cross next to the Thread and if no-one has posted on there within 10 days of you doing so, delete it!
Delete the General Chat and FOG Chat Forums and encourage anyone who want's to chat to use the Live Chat. Some of ther 'Prime' topics on FOG Prime are certainly NOT prime, so mixing half-chatty Topics in won't matter.
