And then it hit me - it sounds remarkably like "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand - well, the main riff anyway.
Well rather, Take Me Out sounds like Trampled Underfoot, anyway.

And Trampled Underfoot is a good song...

Can you hear the similarity? Or is it me going mad again?

No, Take Me Out goes "der der dededer der der" whereas Trampled Underfoot obviously goes "de de de dederder derder derder".

I've also decided that the recurring, erm, twiddly bit (ornament, if you want to be all technical and fancy - I said "twiddly bit" for the laymen out there...) sounds extremely similar to stuff in Take Me Out.
