When you install a game on your PC does the RAM go down?
I have been looking at FarCry's specs and the minimum is 256 and I have 256 so there you go. Also will the Graphics Card that came with my computer be able to handle the graphics? It says it needs 128mb graphics so does that normally come with a computer? It is farily new I think its called a Imeadia 5004 or something.

Bear in mind this 128 Mb of RAM that it needs is on the video card alone. As well as the 256 Mb of system RAM. From what I remember of your PC, you won't be able to run it. To check, Start > Help And Support > Pick A Task (Tools) > Advanced System Information > View Detailed System Information > Components > Display. I need to know Adapter Type and Adapter RAM.

In answer to the does RAM go down, no, never. RAM loses its contents when the power is off.

My PC knowledge is limited, but as far as I'm aware, RAM is used up by the computer for loading, preloading and so on.

It's just like when games on consoles load, they load to the RAM so that the data the game runs on can be loaded quicker.

The RAM isn't the same kind of memory as hard disk drive though. RAM is very temporary, whereas HDD is designed for storage.

If I've got that wrong, I apologise in advance. :D
