Recently though I have noticed that it is becoming absurd on how much money is being played to win. It started with winning a few free games, nothing wrong with that, let the gamers play for games. After all, its not like they're gatting massive winnings or anything. But then came the money.( the downfall of everything I say :D )
Amounts like £2500 and £10000 are up for grabs. I even heard of grown men leaving their jobs (maybe it is a plot for Jobcentre to get more customers :D )to lead the life of a professional gamesplayer. I think it has gone far to far...
" Hey thats a good idea, I'll leave my job as a lawyer to play Quake III for a bit of cash". Its absurd.
I believe that when things like this happen, when gaming is taken well to seriously like people leaving their jobs to play games then the fun is removed from it!

ahhhh the memories of that phrase
Spend all your time playing games in readyness for the next tournament, travel around the world entering competitions for large amounts of money.
"Congratulations CTS you have one the Thailand Open, here is your cheque for £20000. We love you long time."
Man that would rule!
Anyone remember the film "The Wizard" about some kids that travelled accross America to enter the Videogame World Championships?
If SR would like to sponsor me, I will now leave my job and proclaim myself "Professional Black and White Player" or "Prof. Unreal Tournament Player".
