I have recently been looking to buy a new cd writer. I have been looking at either the HP9150 or the sony CRX140E. My local dixons store has the HP for only £99.98 inc vat. Another large retail store in my local area has the sony crx140e for £104.99 inc vat and being local no p&p charges. Also with buying from my local area, should any problems arise. It's merely a 10 - 15 min drive to be able to talk to sum1 about my prob's. The cheapest on-line prices for these 2 drives have been at least £20.00 dearer + p&p charges. I do not have to wait for any 1 to email me back. WHEN THEY CAN BE BOTHERED. No having to keep on & on & on trying to get through to them on the phone. If you've ever brought anything on-line you'll know where i'm coming from. So. How is it retail shops can be cheaper than buying on-line. (not that i'm moaning or owt) Just makes me wonder the profit thay were ripping us for previously... ennit.

Just a passing thought...

Just to confirm. Special Reserve does not charge postage on any CD Writers (to members or non members). We think the Dixons deal might be end of life product.

Also alot of online shops dont charge for postage, Special Reserve doesnt so long as your a member.

Other online shops may charge for phone orders but dont charge for online orders.

I had noticed that alot of CDRs are being sold reasonably priced at Dixons, which suprised me as theyre usually terrible.

All I will say is that if you want a 12 x speed drive then online shopping is probably cheaper, the drives sold in retail shops are generally slower (8 x speed) , and may not have the latest burn proof technology built in.

However if thats the type of drive you want, good for you.
