Does anyone know factors which effect the quality of sounds besides the medium it is played though?

I know theres some simple technical name, I'm edging on saying KBS rate but I am inclined to think thats a download thingy, not a sound thing. Could it be BMP? Urgh I dont know.

Also what is sound synthesis exactly? Is it something to do with converting analogue to digital sound?

Help, as always, largely appreciated.

Kbps is a measure of sampling rate when converting analouge sound to digital. The higher the number then the closer the digital waveform represents the original analouge sound.

presumably.
Most dowloaded tracks are between 120 and 192. Obviously the higher the better.

BMP is a russian made armoured personel carrier.

Kbps is a measure of quality.
