I'm almost certain it did. They all begin Star Wars, and the first one was certainly advertised as "Star Wars" on posters etc... but as with all the other movies, when the writing goes up the screen at the beginning, it says "Episode IV: A New Hope". I think that when it started, it was all called Star Wars, but officially, the episode was A New Hope as Mattyboy said. Also, even if that's untrue, its certainly called that now.

Sorry, I saw it years ago when I picked it at random in a shop (it was £2.99). I like it for many reasons, but mainly for it's inclusion of a frying pan in a shoot-out.
