I'm thinking of taking a second degree (maybe part-time) after I finish my degree in Audio & Music Technology - something more specific to the field I want to work in. Has anyone here ever done one of these new-fangled computer-game related courses? If so, got any advice on the subject?
Its a real education.
We don't do much audio, and nothing that you probably don't already know.
It's all programming and data structures though, and it's no where near s easy as you might be thinking.
First thing to do is pop over to www.fmod.org, get yourself a c compiler and make your own file player with that. Then if you are brave you can start looking at OpenAL and DirectSound, if you want to work with audio in the games industry you will need to know how to program these and how to organise and store the files you are working with in your game.
