As Bungie themselves have summed it up:

-We're releasing a total of nine new multiplayer maps.
-All nine maps will eventually be available as Live downloads and as a normal boxed game disc - available at retail for $19.99 (US).
-The release on Live will be staggered, some paid, some free!
-The first two maps are free and coming in a few short weeks. (late April)
-The same day the 2 free maps are released, 2 additional maps will be available for purchase (A remake of the Halo map Wizard being one of the free ones)
-The remaining 5 maps will be made available as a paid download on the same day the retail package goes on sale.
-The retail disc will contain extras, including a documentary, a cool project from our cinematic and animation team, every Halo 2 update released so far and possily one or two other little treats.
-By late summer, ALL the maps will be available for free.

As exciting as it is, this content would've been much more welcome a month or two ago. Since Chaos Theory will've been only out a week by then, it's unlikely i'll be returning to Halo 2 for very long to play this. That said, those new maps do look pretty cool, especially Turf.

Never thought of that. I was just thinking of ways to be a right sad Halo geek. Waking up in the morning normally is enough mind.

Getting the disc aswell a downloading might be a good idea. Especially if the downloads aren't there later and the xbox 2 is backwards compatible...

Actually those maps look pretty damn good. Containment ought to be par excellence.

I still want Boarding Action though.

I probably will buy it actually. In fact, being sad an all, I may download them AND buy the disc. You may mock, but I'll just be content to put another level stamp in mini-me's cyborg passport.

Why don't everyone wait until the Summer when all maps are free?

I think I played Halo 2 on Live once...then offline with 2 other people about 3 times...then played something fun instead. Mashed, for instance.
