I have a Netgear DG834G modem/router/kitchen sink and I've recently had BB trouble because there was a massive outage in Manchester that affected me.

Now, the damn thing shows as being successfully connected, but every time I try and access the net it fails.

I go into the Netgear setup bit and the connection status shows as:

"failed - LCP down"

"CHAP authentication failed"

WTF is LCP and CHAP???

I phoned BT Broadband to make sure my username and everything was correct but the problem still lingers - the funny thing is, it will eventually connect if I give it time, but it should be always connected as the modem never gets turned off and has long kept a connection since I got it in December.

Can anyon help me rectify this problem, or could there still be problems on BT's side meaning I'll have to put up with it?

Thanks
