10 reasons why I found Man Utd beating Arsenal 1 - 0 in the FA Cup yesterday particularly satisfying.

1: After a couple of seasons suffering from terrible injuries, both Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown had excellent games, and were integral to the victory.

2: Fergie got it right tactically, rather than simply encouraging the players to kick chunks out of the opposition.

3: Arsene Wenger turning to the Ruud Gullit shcool of football management - add another striker - and another - and don't worry about the midfield.

4: Thierry Henry believing the hype, and trying to score from 30 yards with his first touch - thankfully it was blocked.

5: Ronaldo's trickery producing an end product on almost every ocassion.

6: Keeping a clean sheet after such recent defensive horror shows, and a second clean sheet against the Gunners this season.

7: What's more, we haven't been beaten by the Gunners this season. Not many other teams can say that.

8: Oh, and you can't keep the FA Cup now either.

9: And you're not Gunner do the treble. There's only one team that's achieved that particular standard.

10: Alan Hansen got it wrong.

Still, we're in a lose - lose situation with the final. If we beat the 1st division team, well we were expected to do so any way. If we lose (and I'm not ruling that out) then we're a laughing stock.

Don't worry though, you've still got the league. Even if you stumble against Liverpool and Newcastle, we'll help you out by taking points from Chelsea...

I'll take that bet. Had it not been for injury Brown would be ahead of Woodgate and challenging Terry for a place in the England team.

no it wasn't as hansen always gets it wrong,

The scene:

Gary: the match is about to begin whats your prediction alan
Alan: can't see any thing but a 3-0 win for Arsenal over leeds

90 minutes later and a shock result has happened leeds win 2-1

Alan: well as i said at the beginning leeds would be up for this as every point counts, they were always the likely winners

Gary: yes.....er......very true

If we're winning, lump Pascal Cygan on on the left wing, and if we're losing, lump a striker on. That's it, and it never really works, he's just lucky to have built a brilliant squad to fall back on.

I was quite surprised with Fletcher's performance yesterday, before yesterday's game I had doubt's about him and thought he had been given too much responsibilty at a young age but fair play to him, his tackling, passing and distribution of the ball was fantastic.

Or, remembering he did the same thing a week ago...

I agree with the Wenger thing though, I can't remember him ever being tactically superior. It's 4-4-2. Always. If we're winning, lump a defender on and if we're losing, lump a striker on. That's it, and it never really works, he's just lucky to have built a brilliant squad to fall back on.

I agree completely. Brown is finally back on form, something great now Ferdinand's ban is in place, and Fletcher put up a great performance, showing flashes of skill and agression; a definite prospect for the future.
