congratulations to amberleigh house, winner of this years aintree grand national. i won 500 quid on him, after betting he would come in the top 3. my personal bet was on joss naylor, who stumbled on the penultimate fence.

in second was clan royal, and his rider clearly gutted at losing out right at the end. amberleigh house caught right up on the last straight, winning me £500 and a creme egg-easter egg, it was a family bet sort of thing.

Hedgehunter was leading for the best part of 29/30 fences, but fell and stay laid on the ground for the best part of 5 minutes before relievingly getting up, after my auntie went paranoid and was upset when she thought the horse was dead, but he got up.

There were only 11 finishers, with lord atterbury 3rd and last years winner monty's pass coming a respectable fourth. binderee, the 2002 champ, fell on beachers the second time around, but the horse,(without a rider) got up and ran the rest of the race.

Bunny boiler, who had last minute slashed odds, finished 10th and spot the differench high odds and many peoples tip, came a respectable fifth.

But the main story of the day is the triumph of amberleigh house, trained by the legendry ginger mccain in his fourth national win, the other 3 came via sporting legend red rum.

Well done to rider graham lee for keep going despite along way off lord atterbury and clan royal, and catching up and triumphing, and unlucky to hedge hunter, leafing the whole race and then falling over and foward rolling, before he flopped-and thank god he didnt die, otherwise there would be more anger amongst animal right groups in what is already a highly controversial race.
