So,

After seven years at Mayflower high in the school in neighbouring town of my own in essex...

I just performed my last play!

*cries*

It was my last A level performance, We decided to go out in a bang. Breaking tradition my sexy group of five performed Bertolt Brekht's 'The caucasian chalk circle' In the round...

Which proves difficult, challenging yet wildly exciting. The audience are not infront of you.. But AROUND you! Everywher eyou turn no escape complete lime light ECSTACY!

The examiner was half an hour late, didnt ring didnt let us know just turned up to see us sigh with relief after everyone had passed out in panick and the drama studio was full with an aggitated bored audience.

The two show's that went on were two different versions.. ours was last and was given immense aplauds - didnt screw up on lines.. infact adopted another's when it went wrong WOOO!

Hope my grade is ok.

I love acting!

*dances*

Wel, to be truthful most of my theatre studies group find thep ractical OK but the written exam bloody hard.

It is harder than an english exam I think - You do not know what to expect. It based on opinions so it depends on how examiner feels towards your opinion.. Sometimes there are no get outs some questions are so narrow if you dont know it your feckered and others are so broad your like 'So thanks.. uh... what do i do again?'

But, thats hope I do ok!

And thanks for answering. Seems okay as long as you've done some background reading.

Well, it may seem strange to take an exam in drama but A level drama is theatre 'studies'

So we have to study, research and use the theories and implimentations of other actors, directors, methods and theatre through the ages.

Some of our units are practical i.e the one I did in december was a devised piece that I wrote the script to - but the one I mention above is a play by 'Bertolt Brekht' that we have to cut and create our version baring his methods in mind...as freaky as they are..

The actual written exam is the theory part though most of it is based on opinions. Like english we would go see a play, say pre 1900's so we saw Shakespeares 'macbeth' write about parts of it. Not the stroy line or the writer. More like the acting, staging, lighting, stylistic approaches, costume etc etc. There would be a question asking for example

'Was there a particular moment that stayed in your mind with two or more actors? Explain what made it so powerful/funny/memorable for you baring in mind the set, style, lighting and stage space used.'

Then we would have to evaluate and discuss dragging up as many big drama words as possible.. ya know the story.

The other part of the exam will be a question on Trojan Women - So we read and researched it also did practical improvisations then in the exam describe how we ourselves would direct Trojan Women if we were a production company...

...You did ask ..

You'll pass with flying colours if the most specific you can describe your role is "strange".

It's GCSE.

And it's very hard. Considering my supporting cast (sounded good) are a bunch of pesimistic incompetents. And I gotta act all "strange".

I remember a mate of mine who played a beggar in a play. I did actually go to see it for five minutes before leaving of boredom.
