Does it seem to you that history is just repeating it's self? All it seems is that the consoles and games get another number or improved static’s! There needs to be more engines made, so that gaming feels different. The gaming industry is only dreaming in black and white, a new vision has to be seen. But with the new consoles, that has happened! Or has it?
The Dreamcast is more original to the PS2, with Crazy Taxi and more. But the PS2 does have its new games, Time Splitters. But it needs more which are different. A new experience. Animal Forest is a good example. (You have a year to do what you want). But it seems it will go on like this. And more and more sequels will come out. WE NEED ORNIANALITY! If we don't the gaming industry will die. People will get board and what a new world that will be. What will be after? What will happen to our boarded Saturday nights? The future, the future has yet to be decided.
The Dreamcast is more original to the PS2, with Crazy Taxi and more. But the PS2 does have its new games, Time Splitters. But it needs more which are different. A new experience. The gaming industry won't die. The only reason developers are pushing out the same games under different titles is because the public are buying them. As soon as we stop they'll have to come up with something new to regain our attention!
At the moment developers seem to bringing more realism into games (MGS2, Red Faction etc) This can only go so far. As soon as games start becoming more about realism and less about playability the sooner we'll all get bored.
It's similar to what's been happening in the film industry. Films are all about special effects. At first it was "Wow the affects are amazing, the films amazing" then before long it was "Great another film about special effects.DULL"
After this SOME people started trying to bring story lines and originality back into films.
And so it will go with games. I hope.

Would correct you a bit....ORNIANALITY is ORIGINALITY and what the hell is furture? Don't rush these things.
