The simple way to avoid people closing a match just as you're winning:
Host your own game.
This doesn't stop other players leaving but the game won't close and soon you'll have a few people playing who won't leave just before getting beat.
Once you find these people add them to your friends list.
Now you can have decent games of SC:PT online.

Yes, that is well annoying. I basically dominated a ranking game on Saturday by killing the mercs AND disabling the units - it comes right up to my last defuse and the fooker quits the game. Would have made a nice impression on my score, too...
