How the feck do i install the hard drive into my case? So far building my PC has been fairly simple (except for the incredibly irritating task of screwing the motherboard on) and i'm pretty sure after i've done this it's pretty easy again... But how the feck do i put the HD into my case? Whatever i try just results in "Heh... that doesn't go". For a start i don't even know which way it goes up. Stupid guide not telling you something like that. Mock me if you will, but help too :D

Your case/drawing is bizarre :O) The hard drive is usually mounted directly below the floppy disk drive.

Your case should look a bit like this.

 ______________
|PSU |   |    |
|____|   | | 4 X 5.5" drive bays
|_______ | |
|  | |____|
| Mobo | | | 2 X 3.5" drive bays

This cage thats seated further back from the case front is where your HDD goes, it should sit vertical.

You don't need one of those, you will have spaces usually below the FDD bay where the hard disk drives will fit, What case do you have and do you have a piccy of the inside.

It's a tray that lets you mount a HDD in a 5.25" bay.
I bought one for the pc I'm building, and I'm happy enough with it.

In fact, it's packaged as a tray to mount a floppy drive in a large bay, with an optional faceplate that has a hole for the floppy drive to face out of (so you can put disks in and stuff).

Since I didn't use that, but put the rest of the tray in behind a blank faceplate that came with the tower, I've decided to spray paint it black (to match my other optical drives) and stick some wire mesh in the gap, to make a neat viewing window / air vent.

The mesh was 99p for a close to A4 sheet, you can get it from Halfords.

Or you could just use the tray :^)

The floppy thing would be a 3.5" bay, as I said...

I finally figured out which way it went in, but when i put it in one of the places i have no where the insert the screws, soon as the cover to the sides covers the screw holes up. I tried it in a floppy thing and it actually worked, just hope i never need a floppy drive now...

Tis simple...

1. Get the hard drive the so it is facing with the metal side (top) up.

2. Place it in one of the 3.5" drive bays (best to use one without a bevel)

3. Screw it in place.
