Some of you guys seem like experts at Broadband - so can you help?
I've purchased Freeola Broadband. My device manager says everthing is working but my AccessRunnerControlPanel says: ATTEMPTING TO ACTIVATE LINE. TRAINING. CHANEL ANALYSIS. CONNECTION ESTABLISHED......Then after about one second it starts all over again at ATTEMPTING etc.
It's now more than 3 weeks since my so called "activation date". Haven't had a reply to my e-mails for a week from Freeola. I find ringing them a waste of time - i hold on listening to music then get cut off. I even asked for the name and address of their Managing Director and have been met with silence. It seems they don't want to know now that I've paid my money. The modem is a small Mercury one with one flashing red light on top. The user manual is badly written and is obviously for people who already have some knowledge of broadband. It mentions WAN and LAN but I don't know what they are. I assume I need WAN but tried installing both and still get no connection. Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Scouse,

I can assure you that nobody at Freeola wishes to wash their hands of you.

I am extremely concerned that you have tried to contact us to no avail. If you would care to send me the ticket numbers of your enquiries then I can investigate why we have not given you the correct level of service.

I am obviously pleased to hear that it is all working now.

Many thanks for the advice. I have finaly got it going! With 10 seconds of advice from an IT specialist it seems to be OK now. I didn't know (and couldn't find any mention of it in either the modem user manual or Freeola set-up instructions) that I would have to delete all my old dial-ups. I was still using my old NTL and Freeola dial-ups whilst I was trying to get broadband working. I don't know whether it's absolutely neccessary to do this, but the IT guy suggested that the old dial-ups might cause a confliction of some sort - and it seemed to do just that.
So I am finally on broadband nearly 4 weeks after my supposed activation date and, despite at least 6 e-mails in the past few days, I have'nt had a reply from Freeola for more than a week. Surely they could have made the suggestion re the old dial-ups! They seemed to have washed their hands of me. The one good thing about Freeola is that the minimum term is only 3 months. Thanks everyone.

I'm happy with my FREEOLA Broadband!

First of all if you are sure that BT have enabled your line you need to get your modem/router to sync - usually this means a solid light on the device. If it's still flashing then somethings up.

I would suggest unplugging EVERY device in EVERY phone socket first. Then with just your ADSL line plugged in through a micro filter see if the line synchonises. See how you get on with this step before looking at your account and modem configuration...

WANs and LANs are networked. (Wider and Local Area Networks...)

I think the best you can do is install the software that you were given and get everything plugged in, then you'll have to ring them.

Just keep trying to ring them, and ring BT to make sure your line has been activated.
