Is it just me or is internet gaming a slightly depressing prospect. I enjoy multiplayer gaming but most of the fun of multiplayer gaming is actually having your friends around at your house and playing the game whilst talking to each other and winding them up after humiliating them at their favourite game. Internet Gaming takes quite a substantial part of the fun out of gaming and has the obvious disadvantage that your friends aren't actually there to play the game with you and you are having less fun and spending more money on a larger phone bill.
On the other hand one of th advantages is if you can't make it to see a friend or you only have a short time to play you can call a friend up and challenge them to a quick multiplayer match and have a bit more fun than playing single player.
Dreamcast is the only internet gaming console currently out in the UK and from what I have heard is there is a current shortage of good internet games. Is console internet gaming really as good as it sounds or does it take most of the fun out of multiplayer gaming. Any one got any thoughts or opinions on internet Gaming as far as consoles go?
