My pc doesn't work (I don't mean the one I'm using now, genius ;^) )
Last night the pc I'm building was running fine. All the essentials bits, even an OS, were in place and working.
Today I went into an old pc, to raid some bits.
I then went into my new pc, put in the half-inched modem and opened up a drive bay to see if I could get away with a white dvd drive (nope, so I'll be spraying the face plate). Then I pulled out the 2 bits of my 'reworked' power led plug to see if there was an obvious curable reason why it didn't work.
Then I put everything back together, ran it into my tv (via s-video) to try that out, and switched it on.
LEDs came on (the ones that work anyway), fans whirred into life, but no picture.
Then a voice like a woman speaking through a kazoo cam out of the in-case speaker:
"Bah bah-bah-bah-bah bah bah-bah"
(It could have been, for example, 'the _ _ _ _ is broken' or something. My MB's booklet mentioned something about voice software or something, which might be this.)
Since then I've double checked everything I can, removed the modem, made sure plugs and sockets are secure, hooked the pc up to a proper monitor with the usual leads, unplugged the power led light(!)
Nothing's changed. Still a blank screen and 'bah bah-bah-bah-bah bah bah-bah'.
Help!

I wibbled the video card a bit, that was it, wasn't it?
Then I put a screw through the hole just below the plate holding its sockets, hoping it might stop it happening again.
Got the tv thing to work too. I don't think it's a good substitute for a real monitor, at least not to work on. It'll probably be good for dvds though.
If only I didn't have a ps2 :^)
No, I couldn't make out what the voice in the computer said, I even tried putting my head up close to the case but that didn't work either.
I really can't remember how i fixed it though! Thanks mate, I now have one of those annoying brain-taxing thoughts that won't go away!
It worked last night, I'd not tried it between then and opening it this morning.
Any idea what the voice said to you?
It was God, wasn't it?
:^)
Um, check to make sure the graphics card has not come out at all.
To run a display through S-Video out, you usually need to enable said option from the graphics settings within Windows. Did you do this (obviously while using the original monitor :D )?
I heard that voice a couple of PC's ago, shame I can't remember what I did to fix it. That probably wasn't helpful though.
Then again, I probably haven't been much help at all :D
