I have the free version of AVG which is great value for money(!).

However, for the past week, it has been unable to download the latest additions to the virus database. Anyone else had this problem?

What's the crack?

Why are letters falling off my screen?
Why is blood coming out of my floppy drive?
Why does it now say 'property of Bin Laden' at the top of my screen?

(disregard those last three 'joke' questions)
:D

You have to compare the version number with the one on the website e.g. I have .631 (omitting the 6.0) so I'd download the top one. If you can't be bothered to check, just download them all to the folder - as one is bound to be right it'll update anyway. Make sure you're on BB though

They do, try using the PC while they are running and you will notice a considerable change in performance.

AVG 7 is what I'm using at the moment and its the best free one I've found.

These are the free ones I've found, other than AVG:

AntiVir Personal Edition
BitDefender Free Edition
Avast! Personal Edition

The first doesn't scan emails, but a really fast scanner.

The second has no background scanning, and is damn slow. It too doesn't scan emails.

The third is good, monitoring IM apps and IRC too. It didn't pick up the test EICAR virus though, which could be a flaw.

AVG is still the best for me.

Me too BOrat, just visit their update site and download the file into your UPDATE folder. Then run the full program and it should update automatically:
