I've heard these ISP's are both good, with Pipex edging it in terms of reliability.
Comments please....
One thing that Pipex has going for itself is the amount of bandwidth available to its network. It has over 110,000 users and yet has around double the bandwidth needed for that amount of users, so speed should not be a problem.
In my experience Pipex have been reliable for 99.9% of the time. The 0.01% is usually when something goes wrong at BTs end. All ISPs should give you around the same speed so chosing Freeserve or Pipex wont make a difference. Pipex is the 4th largest ISP behind the big 3 of Freeserve, BT and AOL. When you think that Pipex do little advertising its quite a good position to be in.
One thing that has affected speeds lately is BTs lack of bandwidth at exchanges. When 1Mb came out some exchanges became full and in some cases user found speeds on 1Mb werent any faster than 512K and 512K was slower. But BT are upgrading affected exchanges.
