Just got back from the Bridge, and bar the last 5 minutes, the game was poor. Very boring. I think the Irish guy behind me summed it up, "Champions League, my f***ing a*se!"
The game only came to life in the 86th minute after the introduction of Mutu, but really.... we were at home, and we only played one striker....
The midfield was poor, Gallas had a surprisingly bad game, and the passing was pathetic. Crespo for once actually played well, but when he was holding the ball up, there was no-one up front. Gronkjaer was his usual self, on one occasion in the first half he approached the box and then turned round and continued to run back into our half. However he showed some moments of magic in the second half, setting up Adrian Mutu, who failed to score from all of two yards. Terrific save though.
Can't wait to see Robben at the bridge. With him and Duff on the wings, we will soon get rid of these boring games.....hopefully.....
It'd be great to see Arsenal play AC Milan in the Semi's, and then Real Madrid in the final.
I think Arsenal will get to the final, but I have a strange feeling Real Madrid won't get there.
I honestly don't expect us to win the CL, so I wouldn't be disappointed if they put us out. But I genuinely think we could beat them. When at their best, I don't think anyone can touch Arsenal, even the mighty Real Madrid. What Arsenal lack - or have lacked - is consistency.
Either way, it would surely be an audience-grabber. Excluding the fans of both teams, I think most neutral and unbiased people would agree that you would have what are currently the two best footballing teams in the world on show.
It would make for a great final - IF Arsenal can get that far. We have to get through tomorrow night yet.
