"Importance of games characters."

Every company out there has a main character whether it be Sega with Sonic the hedgehog and Nintendo with Mario.Sony have yet to substain a main character with their playstation series but with so much variety in character roles there is no need as the consumer is happy with characters like Lara,Solid snake and Crash Bandicoot as they all signify quality titles.Microsoft on the other hand are releasing a new console the X-Box ,the specifications are fantastic but where is the main character.The importance of this is that companies need to have a character which signifies their companies attitude towards the games market.Take Sonic for example,he is fast,spiny and fun which rounds up Segas attitude which is for the games player a fun experience with titles like Crazy Taxi,Sonic and Bass Fishing to comsume your time.Mario is a lazy ,spagetti eating Italian this shows that Nintendo take their time with their games but you can always count on quality such as Mario 64 and Zelda ocarina of time.In my opinion games characters are extremely important and sorry for this Microsoft but evevn if you have got a grate machine there you should try and crate a main character that tells the consumer how serious you are about the games market
