If someone, not me, was to have a COPY of WindowsXP, not me, ahem. Then how can Service Pack 1A be installed?
I have been onto the WindowsUpdate.com and it lets me see all available updates, all 44 Critical Ones, and I assume I can then download but didn't try.
If I try to install Service Pack 1A it wont let me, cos its a corporate license copied I think. Not that it's me were talking about here!
So, how can I install XP SP1A and can I still use the WinUpdate site to download?

It's easily sorted; you need to get hold of a product key.
There are certain underground websites that can help you out, but that's as much as I can really tell you on a public board like this.
And heh, I had a feeling that this'd be what the topic'd be as soon as I read the title.
I expected something like, "Erm, yeah, not me, but a 'friend' has a copy, and erm, it doesn't allow him to update/instal SP1..."
:-D
I'll try and find the file for you.
As long as you promise me that your copy is merely a backup, and that you bought it.
I'm gullable. Don't worry.
;)
and yes its a backup of an XP Disc that got eaten by my goldfish.
All gone though.
