If you like Sci-Fi, Total Recall is THE quintessential movie of the genre. It has everything that a good Sci-Fi movie should have, and then some.

Space travel, gadgets, futuristic colonies on Mars....these are all included, but more importantly the film can be watched on many different levels.

As a blockbuster action movie, it has great fight sequences, wonderful special effects, violence, bloodletting on a grand scale, great stunts, guns, pumping soundtrack, punchups.....

As an all star cast movie it has Arnie (playing his toughest character ever), Sharon Stone (at her bitchiest), Rachel Ticotin (at her most demure), Michael Ironside (at his most menacing). All these stars are ably supported by the minor characters of the plot.....

As a plot driven movie, you really are kept on your toes in this one, the storyline goes through more hoops than a circus clown on narcotics, and you may need to watch the movie more than once just to get your head around its concepts.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven (who also did Starship Troopers), Total Recall is without doubt the most appealing movie to emerge from the 1990s. There is no Sci-Fi movie before or since that can match Total Recall for its vision of what future may hold, and so many ideas for gadgets are included in the movie that you'll be blown away by some of the concepts that the scriptwriters came up with.

This film is a must for any Arnie film collector, but more importantly it should be included in any respectable Sci-Fi DVD collection.

But I still can't work out whether or not this was all in his mind, or whether it was all really happening, it's that kind of plot, leaving you to make up your own mind.
