Well I think Nintendo have caught on to this, because SNES games will appear on the Gameboy Advance!
Super Mario World, one of the most popular SNES games ever, is coming to the Gameboy Advance! If it's staying true to the original, it will be a game based on Super Mario Bros with slightly better graphics, sounds and actions with tons more gameplay!
Super Mario World features all the bad guys you'd expect from a Mario Platformer. It has Gooma's, Koopa Troopers and in this version of the classic platformer it has the Koopa Family! In this adventure you have to rescue the Princess again but with the aid of Yoshi, the dinosaur, who will let you ride on his back!
You also get powerups like Fireflowers, Mushrooms, and even the flying cape!
With tons of secret levels and shortcuts, this game should not be missed!
Super Mario World 2 is also on the re-release list! This is the sequel to Super Mario World but it's much different to the normal Mario Platformer.
In fact this SNES classic introduced Baby Mario. The Twins Baby Mario and Baby Luigi were being taken to their mother by the stalk. however Magikoopa attacked to try and capture Mario and Luigi but only got Luigi. The stalk, still in shock over the attack, drops Mario onto the island below known as Yoshi's Island.
On this Island, a green Yoshi finds Mario and puts him on his back to take to the other Yoshi's. When he does, Mario seems to want to go, possibly to find his brother? The Yoshi's decide to help Mario, but do they realise what danger lies ahead of them?
This Platformer lets you take full control over Yoshi, allowing you to spit seeds, suck baddies, make eggs and more! The levels are huge and challenging and the new baddies make this game seem like a whole new adventure!
This is another must buy for Nintendo fans!
Also Super MArio Bros 3 is in the works for a GBA game! This is based on the original Mario Bros game and allows you to use features like Raccoon power and turn into a frog and a statue to help you through your quest.
This game also features new bad guys and a minibonus type game at the end of each level which you have to try and match the same symbols to gain extra lives!
There are plenty of bonus levels and the ability to play multipayer to help you along the quest makes this game even better! I can't wait!
More SNES games are coming from Capcom too! And although I've never played the SNES versions, I've heard they're great!
We're gonna see the SNES classics Final Fight, Breath of Fire and Street Fighter 2 on the Gameboy Advance from the third party developer Capcom which means it's not just Nintendo who have cottoned on to the fact that the SNES era was the most popular in the gaming world!
Metroid has also been confirmed which means we may see a linkup between the Gameboy Advance and Gamecube version if we're lucky!
I've also heard that Yoshi's Story is being ported to Gameboy ADvance straight from the N64, but I'm not sure whether that's true or not.
There is a game coming out as well called "Fire Emblem: Maiden of the Dark" which is a retelling of the classic SNES game Secret Of Mana. Although I've never played this RPG, I've heard it's very good and one of the best SNES RPG's ever!
More news I've heard is about the Backwards compatability. There are a few problems with these games:
Card Captor Sakura
Denshu De Go
Denshu De Go 2
Disney's Tarzan
Doreamon - Study Fighter 99 Games
Game Of Go
Hampster Paradise 2
Hampster Paradise 3
Koro Koro Kirby
Sakura Taisen GB
Shogi
Tokimeki Memorial Pocket: Culture
Tokimeki Memorial Pocket: Sports
World Soccer GB2
However by June Nintendo may have sorted them out.
Also cos the GBA carts are half the height of the normal Gameboy carts, when playing classic and color games the cartridges stick out which will probably get in the way.
It's nothing for me to worry about though! I'm keeping my Gameboy Color and'll be able to play classic games on there!
Anyway I think the majority of this news is great and I'm seriously looking forward to the Gameboy ADvance's release date of 22nd June!
On that day I've got Study leave so me and my friend are going to go into town hopefully to get one as soon as the shops open :)
