Read something the other day, went along the lines of "Ideas are floating around the atmosphere, any number of people can grab the same ones". It was basically saying that someone else may come up with the same idea as you.

Anyway, given my experience, and that of others I've spoken to, I don't think that ideas do just float in the atmosphere. I think they sit by the side of the road, waiting for people to pick them up.

Honestly, the amount of time I come up with ideas, or ways to continue things, whilst driving along is simply fantastic.

Anyway, some of these ideas only need a short ride, and will leave you, often before you have the chance to write them down, and do anything with them. That's what's happened when you see something, and know you've had that idea before.

Sometimes, ideas will stick with you forever though, and keep on coming back to you. I get this one tale pop into my head every single time I drive around a particular piece of road. I don't think it will ever leave me, until I do somethng constructive with it.

Anyway, I don't want to go on forever, but I'd like to ask, where do your ideas come from...?

I've found that being in motion (in a car, on a bus/train, walking) is conducive to ideas popping into the head.
Having said that, most of my ideas come from just forcing them out: appetite comes with eating. Just a word or a phrase is all that's needed, and before I know it I've expressed something and am left thinking: where did that come from?
