Can anyone think of an instance where someone has been arrested for a crime and the tabloids have gone, pardon my french, apesh*t about them being guilty, and they have been proved innocent and let free?

I'm wanting to include an example of this in my coursework but can't think of many instances, and the internet provides me with only American stories.

I *think* Mathew Kelly being accused of being a paedo could be one, and he was released wasn't he?

Birmingham 6? They were arrested for the terrorist bombings in Birmingham, jailed, demonised, but the conviction was later found to be unsafe.

Angela Cannings? Convicted of killing her child she was shown little sympathy, until the evidence which mainly jailed her was discredited and she's free and innocent now.

The Rodney King case provides an alternative - the police involved were found innocent, but a second civil trial found them guilty.

Yeah good old Matthew was cleared completely.
