If it wasn't for this last line, I'd expect a ton of "What do you know, Tony?" and "When Tony, when!" style posts.

sony are not in any rush to drop the prices. I went into game today and they only have 2 left and they are running low.
Sony have finally got there stock quoter met so it is really only the begging for sony
You must remember if there is still a big demand then the price is likely not to drop for some time.

Well, the fact is that the PS2s are selling as soon as they're put on the shelves! That'll only change when Microsoft start their Xbox marketting campaign, and that'll be when Sony lower the price. Either that, or in Summer when games sales generally dry up a bit.

I think the Japanese will see a reduction in the next 2 or 3 months, and we will get ours around October/November.
The HD/broadband add-on is due for release here later this year - I think a price reduction will happen then, with a standard PS2 on sale for £199 and a combined PS2/HD combination for £299.

Yeah - a friend of mine tried this. Got his PS2, the charge was £299.99, and now they won't speak to him.

I would have thought that it would be a good move to drop the price around July time. That is when most students will have left so they will have more free time (we do loads of work.....honest!). That will also give them a good few months to sell before any competition arrives.
OR, they could wait 'til something like GT3 is out, and bundle that together at the new low price. That would seem most sensible to me as GT3 seems to be one of the titles PS2 owners are banking on.
