And i know its from a tabloid, but its still factual.
HE made a name for himself as one of the most right-wing and loathed politicians of modern times.
But now Tory leader Michael Howard is trying to change his image by setting out his core beliefs.
The 16-point list - dubbed the Tory commandments - include statements such as "I believe every child wants security for their parents in their old age" and "I believe the British people are only happy when they're free".
Can this really be Michael Howard - the man nicknamed Dracula and once denounced by Ann Widdecombe as having "something of the night" about him?
Based on his appalling track record, here's what we believe Howard really thinks...
I BELIEVE men and women are happiest when they have few rights in the workplace.
As Employment Secretary in 1991, Howard tried to stop EU attempts to introduce a 48-hour working week and to give working women statutory maternity rights. He also refused to recognise an EU directive guaranteeing mums maternity leave.
I BELIEVE politicians should be more honest and not avoid the question. Most of the time.
Last November, less than a year before becoming Iain Duncan Smith's successor, he said: "I will never stand again for the leadership of the Conservative party." Howard also sacked prison chief Derek Lewis in 1995 then failed to answer a direct question about it from Jeremy Paxman 14 times on Newsnight.
I BELIEVE in being tough on crime - provided the crook isn't a pal of ours. Just because 3,000 people were murdered during General Pinochet's rule in Chile, doesn't mean he's a bad person.
In 1998, Howard criticised Jack Straw's decision to detain Pinochet and campaigned for his release.
I BELIEVE that a person's poverty is caused by Tory policies. And I know a thing or two about poverty, having been in the Cabinet during the last recession and presiding over three million people on the dole.
As Employment Secretary in 1991, Howard also said that Labour's National Minimum Wage proposals would cost two million jobs.
I BELIEVE every child has the right to pick on classmates they suspect are fairies. Getting a hard time in the playground might toughen them up.
Howard brought in Clause 28 of the 1988 Local Government Act banning the "promotion" of homosexuality. Teachers say it left them powerless to prevent homophobic bullying.
I BELIEVE miners are happiest on the dole. That's why I helped to destroy the coal industry. The whippet-racing flat-caps don't vote Tory anyway.
As Employment Secretary, Howard led the 1993 campaign to pull the rug out from under the coal industry by blocking long-term subsidies which would have kept open all 31 pits threatened with closure.
I BELIEVE in the rule of law. Well, sometimes. I do for you lot, but not for me. I know what causes crime - criminals. And vote-seeking Home Secretaries.
In 1995, Howard was judged to have flouted the European Convention on Human Rights after unlawfully delaying the release of five IRA prisoners, the seventh time he had been found to be acting illegally in two years as Home Secretary.
I BELIEVE Iraqis are most likely to be happy when we're bombing them.
In 1998, Howard said Tony Blair and Bill Clinton should attack Iraq without warning to try to remove Saddam Hussein.
I BELIEVE Tory leaders are happiest with a string of lucrative directorships.
In the past six years, Howard has made a mint from jobs with Eschmann Holdings, the Imprint Group, Finex plc and Crime Reduction International. He quit them all after becoming Tory leader.
I BELIEVE workers are happiest when they're not allowed to join trade unions.
As Employment Secretary in 1991, Howard tried to force workers to give written consent every time union subscriptions were up for renewal. Even Tory trade unionists warned him these plans shifted the balance of power too far towards employers.
I BELIEVE homosexuals should be second-class citizens.
In 1998, Howard voted against lowering the homosexual age of consent to 16.
I BELIEVE MPs are happiest when they're kept in the dark.
In 1995, the Appeal Court accused Howard of an "abuse of power" for trying to cut criminal injuries compensation without consulting
Parliament.
I BELIEVE in alienating police officers with a string of ill-conceived policies.
Police chiefs dubbed him "inept and incompetent" as they saw off an attempt to increase political control of their forces.
I DO NOT BELIEVE in openness in government. After all, I don't want my mess-ups exposed.
In 1994, the High Court condemned his "significantly" secretive world in the Home Office and ordered him to release files on the miscarriage of justice victims whose appeals had been refused.
I DO NOT BELIEVE in the poll tax. Even though it was me who brought it in and defend- ed it long after it was scrapped. Since becoming leader, I now think it was a bad idea.
Howard was the minister in charge of bringing in the poll tax in 1988. Even in 1991, with Thatcher gone and after the poll tax riots, he insisted he still believed in it.
I BELIEVE that by good fortune, hard work, natural talent and rich diversity, these islands are home to a great people with a noble and exciting future... as long as they have the sense not to vote Tory.
Don't forget, Howard voted to privatise the railways, cut benefits and presided over the worst recession for decades.
he is the only politician i have ever met, and he strikes me as being a condescending git, he presumes the young people of this country are idiots, they would be if they voted for him.
the last time i saw him he was being driven away in his chauffuer driven limo.
the impression i got, was that he was a living cliche, a typical politician.
I think I'll vote for The Liberals actually.
Did you threaten to overrule him?
