Just noticed it on sale and it caught my eye.
"Produced by Ryuhei Kitamura ("Versus," "Azumi"), this action-comedy-horror fun pic was directed by Yudai Yamaguchi, who served as the assistant director to all of Kitamura's previous films, as well as his co-writer for "Versus" and "Alive." It's based on the popular, wacky manga "Jigoku Koushien (Battlefield Stadium)" by Man-Gataro, which is serialised in Shueisha's Monthly Shonen Jump. Think of a baseball version of Stephen Chow's "Shaolin Soccer," mixed with blood and violence of Kinji Fukasaku's "Battle Royale" staged through cartoonish styled fighting, and you'll get a rough idea of this hilarious satire about an "apocalyptic sports" movie that gives an uproarious new spin to the genre formerly typified by "Rollerball's" serious approach. The film stars Tak Sakaguchi of "Versus" fame."
It's basically your average mad Japanese baseball zombie horror comedy.
Could turn out to be naff, but sometimes in order to find an unknown gem of a film you need to take a risk and buy it.
