I purchased my Playstation 2 around November in time for Christmas, and got SSX and Timesplitters with it. I have enjoyed the two games very much, but after I completed them I got bored of them so I felt like I needed to play another game. I searched frantically for another PS2 game but their was nothing good to offer me (IMO)
I am like a gaming addict, because when I waited to long without playing a new game I often feel the urge coming on to buy a new game. As there was nothing on the market I was getting really annoyed. Tekken Tag Tournament and Dead Or Alive 2 appeared to be OK, but I needed better than just OK.
Out of sheer madness I just robbed my piggy bank and rushed to my nearest game shop and bought a Dreamcast. I got it home, and played Sonic on it, and I thought great, I have a great console that plays supper games. After a week of having it I felt like I didn’t like it as much as my PS2 for some reason. I had now had the Dreamcast for two weeks and I didn’t play it hardly at all. Then when I got home from school one day I clicked on a web site that I regularly go to and saw a headline that was “RIP dreamcast”. I was really annoyed now, and I felt as if I was robbed for my money! I am not saying the Dreamcast is rubbish, infact far from it. It’s just that it’s not to my taste.
I packed up the dreamcast and it is now in my wardrobe. I went back to my PS2 and played SSX for a little just to cheer me up. By this time, Zone Of The Enders was getting close to release date and when I found out that it was a robot fighting game, I thought to myself, “cool, a new PS2 game that is fresh and original”.
ZOE was released and I travelled swiftly down to GAME and bought the game. It was great! No, it was outstanding! I had now gained faith back into Sony, and of course the PS2.
The games, which are out today, don’t push the PS2 capabilities too much, but in the future there will be great games to come. The best IMO will be,
The Getaway- A game, which combines a bit of Driver with better graphics, and a bit of grand theft auto too. It is based around the streets of London, and I have seen a few screen shots, and believe me, they were so good, I wasn’t sure if they were computer graphics or an actual photo of London streets.
Red Faction- This game is set to be a great 3D-shoot em up. Again, the screen shots of the game look promising. Maybe this could be the Timesplitters beater that we have been waiting for.
Wipeout Fusion- Any fans of the original Wipeout series will be wetting themselves with excitement. Its gonna be tougher, faster and will get the speed indrelelene (can't spell that) right up.
ISS Pro Evolution- the footy games on the PS2 haven’t been up to scratch recently have they? Lets be honest, every FIFA game that comes out looks the same as the previous so lets just hope the new ISS will be more original.
G-Force- This is really a motorcyclist dream! The previous Motor bike games have been a little disappointing because of the lack of speed. Well, we can finally say goodbye to the old and welcome the new! This is just like a wipeout on wheels, only FASTER!
Of course I could mention MGS2 but I’m sure everybody will know all about it, or even played it! I won’t bother giving the game a description because you will know it anyway.
So, as you can see, the future of the PS2 is not a problem at all, infact the future of the PS2 is looking very promising indeed!
I really do hope that the PS2 will survive the launch of the GameCube and the X-Box because I don’t know if I can live without my PS2. I am really grateful to Sony for blessing me with the PS2. Some Playstation 2 owners are disappointed with their machine, and I can slightly understand this. Most peoples reasons are that there aren’t to many games out for the moment, which is true, but give it time, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
There are some people who are a little doubtful for the PS2’s future but don’t be put off by people saying that the PS3 will be out soon, and Sony will dump the Ps2 to work on the PS3 because that is a load of rubbish. Yes, there may well be a PS3 one day, but it will not be in the near future, and if you do want to wait another 4-5-6-7-8 or however many years for the PS3, so be it but I would advise you to purchase a PS2 right away.
Another good reason that I think the PS2 will not go out of business is because of how wealthy Sony are at the moment
I am very pleased that I bought the PS2, and I am sure that I have made the right decision in buying it. I am pleased with everything to do with the PS2, apart from the lack of games at the moment, but I am not too annoyed because I know that there are plenty of games in the making for it.
So come on PS2 owners, let me know your thoughts. Are you really pleased with the outcome of the PS2 or are you annoyed you didn’t wait for Gamecube instead?

Dur!
I'm putting up a new topic in the FOG soon based around "what helps you buy a console". Won't be long as this though, just a little topic to continue the brillance of FOG forum :-)
I have e-mailed SR for my gameaday claim but they haven't updated my prize claim yet. I hope its added tonight.
See you around.

I am certainly NOT disappointed with my PS2, and yes, I am looking forward to the masses of PS2 titles set to come!!
Anyway, speak to ya on FOG, M16.
Also, with you there, it means I'm not the only one who likes PS2 there!!
Well, Wookiee goes there sometimes, but he's a Wookiee, he doesn't know anything.
{:) Only kidding, Wookiee.
