Hi there.

My mother bought me, without asking me, (which is a nice thought), a Dell Dimension 2400. This summer. It's pretty good.

Processor:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
Speed: 2392 MHz

111.74 GB on C Drive.

Video Card: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio

Problem is, I've only got 256 RAM. Which is a hellish problem, obviously. Also, I'm not sure that my Video Card is up to scratch, but I don't spend too much time with online gaming - that's going to change soon, but I don't want to spend too much, I'm on £40 per month for games and PC things... So I'm looking for something well within £150. But something quality anyhoo.

Apparently I have 2 RAM slots on my motherboard, once again, I don't want to shell out loads, but I want perfomance anyway. So would one 512 RAM chip be enough to boost my perfomance enough to run good games (ie. Morrowind etc.)

And are there any other problems with my system? Should I do anything else?

Well an extra 512mb would help, but your main problem is the graphics card as it looks like its onboard. Onboard graphics is ok if your not using the PC for games and need to have a cheap system, but for games you need to have a decent graphics card.

512mb RAM would be around £40 and then a decent graphics card about £120. Radeon 9600 XT or Pro or be a good choice. Once you get the extra 512mb RAM and the graphics card you should have a pretty good machine that will play all the latest games at a decent rate.
