Thank you I have just found this sight and printed out the info. Still leaves the decision about whether to let a 14 yr old play tony hawkes skating a bit grey but at least I now know what the law says.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Basically, the square on the bottom left of games (you should see a link to www.pegi.info - hint hint) tells you the recommended age rating, and on the back some stupid symbols on what the game involves. This is not law, though some companies are strict and won't allow the liddle kiddies to take away a game even if it had an 11+ rating or whatever.

THe next step up is the BBFC rating - this is law, and companies are supposed to turn down underage people buying it; though it never stopped most of us. These are games that are usually rated to get more publicity, but are more strict with their ratings.

Thanks so much that is really helpful, not you sarccy git!!!
Why do people keen talking about the age in the blue square and the age in the red circle I keep getting mixed messages about what the law is. Is there not a certificate and a skill level?

Hmm, never mind. Say you were 5, you wshouldn't really play games that have a number greater than 5 on it.

Some background reading into numbers include:

Barney's Song: "Two plus two is four" and
Numbers: by the number Archive

Cheers.

Unrivalled services
Freeola has to be one of, if not the best, ISP around as the services they offer seem unrivalled.
The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
